[Photos] Improve face tagging in WL Photos

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 10, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

Just showing a list of people in the photo is too basic. Facebook allows you to hover over individuals in the picture to see tags. WL Photos needs this type of tagging support. Particularly handy for large group photos.

Allow point-and-click tagging of uploaded photos.

WLPG recent release does have people tagging. You can download the recent version at http://download.live.com/

Changed title from [Improve face tagging in WL Photos] to [[Photos] Improve face tagging in WL Photos].

I think Greg knows that WLPG does People tagging the way FaceBook does it, but that Windows Live Photos does not. So, when you are in the desktop application then it works, but when you are online it does not. You just get this list of people at the bottom of the image of who is in the photo. Since WLPG works this way I have to wonder why this information isn't uploaded with the photo and available online, and why the tagging can't be done online also.

Yes, I'm well aware that WLPG does offer superior face tagging. Thanks for coming to my defense. ;)

As you mentioned, even if you've tagged the photos using WLPG, you lose all of the "who is who" tagging goodness when they're uploaded to WL Photos. WL Photos just shows a list of people in the photo. That's my real beef. Thanks for helping to clarify.
