[Spaces] [SkyDrive] Improve support for blogging to WL Spaces/SkyDrive with Word 2007

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 9, 2009 to Legacy, Usability

If you're using Word 2007 as your blog editor for WL Spaces, you can't include images, unless you host them somewhere other than SkyDrive (i.e., third-party image hosting). One would expect better integration between Microsoft products and services. Please provide an update for Word 2007 that handles the image uploading to SkyDrive (a la WL Writer). That would make Word 2007 an ideal blog editor for WL Spaces.

The focus is now word 2009/2010.

Until that materializes, we should have support in Word 2007. It's the currently supported version of Word, and these are Microsoft services. They should work together more seamlessly than say, Microsoft Word and Wordpress, which is currently not the case.

If you have writer why on earth would you also need to use Word? There's enough duplication goes on without this! Writer is all you need and unlike Word, its free.

So following your logic, TG, if I already use Word 2007 on a regular basis, why should I have to download yet another application (WL Writer, which I love, BTW) to do something that Word should already be able to do?

Changed title from [Improve support for blogging to WL Spaces/SkyDrive with Word 2007] to [[Spaces] Improve support for blogging to WL Spaces/SkyDrive with Word 2007].

Because Greg, one is a word processor and the other is a blog editor! Writer is written with blogs in mind and is part of the Live Services for that purpose!
You forget I think (as usual) who Live Services are targetted at! Ordinary users who might not have Windows Office on board! What are they supposed to use for blogging then?
Word is not and never has been targetted at composing a blog, it is the word processing part of Office which is fundamentally aimed at companies and users who need and use an Office suite.

Whoa, whoa. Take it down a notch, grandma. As usual, you fail to understand the suggestion before attacking it. Did I say get rid of WL Writer? No, I think not. But Word 2007 does have "new blog post" as a target document type. At the moment, it's easier publish to a Wordpress blog with Photobucket as an image server than it is to post to a WL Spaces blog with SkyDrive as an image server. And they're all Microsoft products/services! All I'm suggesting is that they add better support for blogging to WL Spaces from Word 2007.

Again, they are working on word 2009/2010 (how ever long crazzy asss balmer wants to delay it, so he can scream DEVELOPERS! at them)

Live writer is design for blogs.

Shouldn't we still continue expect updates and service packs for Office 2007 in the interim? Seems like an add-on option if nothing else. I've got Gladinet working successfully with my SkyDrive now, so this kind of integration may be a less critical, but it sure would be swell. Thanks!
