[Hotmail] Save email attachments to my Skydrive

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Usability

Currently, getting a file from an email into Skydrive is laborious. it should e very very simple.

I’d like to have the option within Hotmail to save email attachments to my Skydrive

Not everyone uses sky drive, so this feature is useless. But you could save it to sky-drive your self ;)

Chris,
Thanks for the comments.

I must say though, I don't understand your rationale that it would be useless because not everyone uses Skydrive. By that rationale Microsoft shouldn't ever make any improvements to anything. Moreover, if that were the case then why even bother submitting anything to http://www.windowslivetaskforce.com???" target="_self" title="http://www.windowslivetaskforce.com???">http://www.windowslivetaskforce.com???

And yes, I agree that I *could* save it to Skydrive myself and indeed that is what I do but surely one of the main points of http://www.windowslivetaskforce.com is to make things like that easier. Yes? No?

Well I do like the idea although I don't use skydrive myself.

Better yet, merge the file storage so that Hotmail storage is just an extension of SkyDrive (sort of like Photos and Favorites currently work).

Yes. SkyDrive should be a centralised, integrated storage location for everything in Windows Live.

In my mind this would be the kind of integration that would make users more interested in your services. It would simply be more efficient and user friendly without the extra steps of creating something, downloading it and then uploading. At the end of the day, it is commitment to consumer satisfaction. With all that said, Skydrive is an awesome tool, but this integration could make it better.

Today you have the option to download or open a document online. When you open it online, why not offer the alternative to save it to SkyDrive. That to me sounds easy enough.
