Remake the Windows Live Hotmail/People Sidebar

Submitted by hoopla_punta on March 8, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

The Sidebar has some difficulties in UX:

Normally-long usernames cannot be fully seen.
There should be a seperator to differentiate between generic folders and user-created folders.

"Manage folders" looks awfully like another folder.

Change the look of "Recent Places" to differentiate between folders and "places".

Fix the above problems.
A good example can be seen in places like Photos or Skydrive of Windows Live.

Sometimes there is an advert at the bottom which is really distorted and does not show properly which makes it look ugly.
And it's sometimes hard to see folder names
