Higher Resolution video in Messenger

Submitted by broccauley on June 1, 2009 to Usability

Windows Live Messenger only supports video calls in 320x240 QVGA resolution. Most modern webcams, however, support VGA and higher. Modern internet connections are also now > 1Mbit and should be fine with the bandwidth.

Give us hi-res video if all users can support it, dropping down to a lower resolution if the quality of service is poor. Also use better video encoding such as H.264 instead of H.263.
