Add SMS (text) messaging to web Messenger
The web based Messenger in Mail and People does not allow you to send SMS messages (text messages) to phones that people have set up expressly for this purpose. Since web Messenger only works in mail and People it seems like it would be a good place to be able to send a text/SMS message without having to resort to using a mobile phone. This would also be in parity with the desktop Messenger which has this feature.
Add a menu item allowing messages to be sent via SMS to offline contacts.

Chris, when I find one I don't understand, I skip it. I don't feel compelled to vote on every issue. I can always vote later. Now that you voted, you can't "unvote!"
Anyway, unless you've been under a rock for some time, you know that the desktop Messenger has done phones for ages. One of the options is being ableto send an SMS message to an offline recipient. Considering that form of communication is both quicker and easier to access for people on the go, it seems like they would want the parity with the desktop application.
Oh wait - you can unvote!
Yep. I'm also starting to comment on the reason why I demoted. Many here dont.
No no no no no!!!!!!!
No fuckin SMS shit in Messenger. It's enough that ICQ supports such a shit and its buggy as hell and annoying.

If you want to use mms, just use the software that comes with your phone. most phones have their own service. (if you have an iphone, or ipod touch use bee jive and save on mms fees )
It's already in messenger, it works fine, and I have to know your number in order to use my phone. With messenger I don't. Why is this such an issue or a problem for you guys? Some of us use this type of feature for alerts on Live, we use it for updates on Live, we use it for updates on Facebook, we use it with twitter( do you want to give you number out to the world so you can get twits)? No one makes you use it. Some of use just like it, and these services allow it without having to share you phone number! Get over it!
What the hell does ICQ have to do with anything Microsoft? Does AOL do anything that works right? Again, HELLO! I need your phone number to use my phone to send SMS. With Messenger I DO NOT need your number. If you don't like this feature then DON'T use it. Geez! Love your foul mouth! NICE!
