Please add "Invert Selection" as a menu item in WL Photo Gallery

Submitted by mjflynt on March 14, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

You cannot invert your selection in WL Photo Gallery. Any application that offers "Select All" should also offer "Invert Selection."

Adding a menu item to invert your selection will make you life easier. For example, if you select your first set of photos by clicking on a tag, then you select all, then click on another tag. This presents all the photos from the second tag, but only (more...)

Add two new panels to Messenger for Groups and for Categories.

Submitted by mjflynt on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

The one panel view is way too cluttered.

I am in nine groups and counting. Only two of those ever go online and the rest are web only. Either remove the web only groups or better, add a separate groups panel. The tab could be labeled "Groups" and perhaps followed by a number in parenthesis (more...)

Add more granular control over the "What's new with my network"

Submitted by mjflynt on March 10, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

On the Home page, on a "What's new with my network" item, I can alter the types of notifications I get. I can currently set "Hide updates from user XXXXX", "Hide this type of update" or "more options." The (more...)

I would like a new option that adds to that list "Hide this type of update from this user XXXXX". (Or "Hide updates from this user XXXXX of this type.") This would allow you to continue to monitor tweets, for example, and to continue (more...)

Turn Messenger Group icons green when someone in the group is online when the group is blocked.

Submitted by mjflynt on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons, Usability

Messenger group icons/tiles for blocked groups do not change color. Turn Messenger Group icons/tiles green when someone in the group is online even when the group is blocked. This would be consistent with how Messenger handles contact tiles for individuals (more...)

Turn the group's Messenger icon green if someone in the group is online regardless of whether the group has been blocked or not. It currently shows a slash if blocked, but does not go green making it hard to tell if anyone in the group is online (more...)

Add SMS (text) messaging to web Messenger

Submitted by mjflynt on April 23, 2009 to Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

The web based Messenger in Mail and People does not allow you to send SMS messages (text messages) to phones that people have set up expressly for this purpose. Since web Messenger only works in mail and People it seems like it would be a good place to (more...)

Add a menu item allowing messages to be sent via SMS to offline contacts.

Add SharedView back to Messenger

Submitted by mjflynt on March 11, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Legacy, Usability

The SharedView activity is no longer available in messenger.

This has been an oversight in past versions of Messenger and was added back when it was discovered missing. I guess no one has noticed so I will bring it up. Please add it back as an activity as SharedView is a great tool that is not given enough attention.

Allow the order of the filter rules to be changed

Submitted by mjflynt on April 23, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

The "Automatically sort e-mail into folders" of the web based Live Mail does not allow for the order to change. After submitting several help tickets with Microsoft, and each time getting a "we are aware of this... but it won't be (more...)

Add a mechanism to change the order of these. It could be a index number field or arrows to move up or one down or whatever. Just make it possible. So far as I know, this is not maintainable on the desktop client version. It's been like this FOR YEARS! (more...)

Improve Live Search over the Live.com domain

Submitted by mjflynt on March 10, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

It is impossibly difficult to find groups and other things in Live.

Add a better search capability for people, groups and spaces including searching on tags, filenames, group names, Spaces content, etc. I know that there is some of this, but lots of people are not happy with the available tools.

Add a contact view of Group by Online/Offline Status

Submitted by mjflynt on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

You used to be able to group your contacts by online/offline status.

Add the view for grouping by online/offline status. If the Discussion Groups had their own tab then the contact panel could be viewed by categories or by contact status. This makes it tremendously easier to find your contacts when you have a lot of them (more...)

Allow for batch delete and/or expiration of Shared Favorites

Submitted by mjflynt on March 10, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

Shared Favorites are difficult to delete yet easy to make using the toolbar. To delete one of these you must click on each one in order to get to a menu allowing a delete then click to get back to the list. If you have a lot of these you tend to ignore (more...)

You should be able to select a batch of them while in the Shared favorite's folder and batch delete. Optionally, you should be able to add an expiration date when creating them so they will automatically delete.

Improve Share on the Live Toolbar

Submitted by mjflynt on July 31, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

The Share button on the Live Toolbar allows the user to share a webpage with the entire public. It posts updates to every contact in the persons network. Sometimes a shared page is only pertinent to a small set of contacts. For example, a technical article (more...)

Add one more field to the form that displays when you click the Share button. This field will default to everyone or public or just "Shared Favorites", but it will be a dropdown menu that also lists each of the other user defined Shared Favorite (more...)

Bring back Shared Folders

Submitted by mjflynt on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

I know you took them out for a reason or whatever. And I know that there is Live Sync. But it took me forever to get my dad to use Shared Folders, and I don't look forward to teaching him something new.

Please integrate Live Sync with Messenger in a way that is similar to how Shared Folders used to work. I believe this has been done with WLPG to sync photos?? I know that we are limited to 20 Synced Folders which won't be enough for most people's (more...)

Show only the first 20 people online in a group in Messenger - not the entire membership.

Submitted by mjflynt on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

Instead of listing every member of a group and limiting the group size to 20 or less to allow group chat why not list only those actually online and not limit the overall group size.

List only the first 20 members of a group that are actually online, and allow them to group chat. Do not show the 21st and later online person or show them with a special icon indicating they are not available, and do not let them in the chat. Show them (more...)
