Add Photos of People to Windows Live Contacts

Submitted by cumbrowski on November 4, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

I have a very bad memory when it comes to people's names. I am a visual person. I recognize faces. Because I am aware of this weakness, I always try to add a photo of the person to my address book. I used to do that with Outlook. Now I am using Windows (more...)

Add the ability to add a picture of a person to the Windows Live Contacts address book.

Don't show ads for scareware / rogue software on Windows Live / Microsoft sites

Submitted by antiufo on September 18, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

I can't believe Microsoft (at least in Italy) shows scareware and rogue software ads on its websites, for example "registry fixers" that simply remove some unused keys showing every item as "ERROR" and asking the user to pay to (more...)

Don't accept this kind of ads on Microsoft websites, becuse:

* It's negative ads for Windows (the avarage user thinks it is a necessary tool for a Windows PC)
* "Registry fixers" are useless software that bloat (more...)

Windows Live Writer should use the scenic ribbon

Submitted by Mephiles on September 12, 2009 to Aesthetics, Legacy, Usability

Windows Live Writer still uses the menu bar system that's over 20 years old.

Windows Live Writer is perfect for the scenic ribbon. Use it.

"My Received Files" in Windows Live Messenger should not be in Documents folder (except in XP)

Submitted by Mephiles on September 16, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

The "My Received Files" folder is located in the Users\<user>\Documents\ folder, which is an annoying place to have it. It's also inappropriately named.

It should appear in the Users\<user>\Downloads\ folder and should be named something like "Received Messenger Files"

Windows Live mail should use the scenic ribbon

Submitted by .Chris on November 16, 2009 to Aesthetics, Icons, Usability

Windows Live Mail should ditch the use of the old menu system and adapt the use of the ribbon. Alow color options, as not everyone wants the blue, and live mail would be a strip down version of outlook, and aimed at the general consumer.

Windows Live Personalised Experience (http://my.live.com) should be updated completely or redesigned

Submitted by Mephiles on September 12, 2009 to Annoyance, Legacy

The Windows Live Personalised Experience is now too old and neglected. I use it every day for my RSS feeds.

The interface needs to be completely redone and updated to use the Wave 3 headers and styles.

Bring back pop-up reminders in Windows Calendar

Submitted by gdmorgan on December 11, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Now in Windows Live Calendar (Windows 7), you can only receive an email as a reminder for calendar events. In Windows Calendar (Vista) you could set a pop-up reminder at a time interval of your choosing before the event occurs.

Bring back the functionality to set pop-up reminders at a time interval of your choosing (as was possible in Windows Vista).

WLM: Print out all selected E-Mails

Submitted by maxico86 on November 15, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Windows Live Mail does not print all selected E-Mails. But sometimes I have to print 10 E-Mails or more.

When the user has selected more than one E-Mail and go to "print" please make WLM print all the selected E-Mails!

Windows Live Mail .eml, vintage icon

Submitted by formula_86 on February 3, 2010 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

When you save an email message as an .eml draft file, the file type icon looks rather outdated.

Have it so that the icon used is exactly the same as Windows Vista's Windows Mail .eml file type icon.

Microsoft Exchange Support in Windows Live Mail

Submitted by irv4oh on November 7, 2009 to Usability

Using Exchange email requires Microsoft Office Outlook on Windows, where Snow Leopard users can use Mail.app (although SL is compatible only with Exchange Server 2007 and not 2003). There is no simple Windows mail client, like Windows Live Mail, for Exchange (more...)

Add Microsoft Exchange email account support to Windows Live Mail, especially via Outlook Web Access/Outlook Anywhere/RPC over HTTP.

"Download more pictures" dialog in Messenger is visually outdated

Submitted by nyp on October 31, 2009 to Aesthetics, Icons

On the dialog where you select a display picture, there is a small link to "Download more pictures..."
Problem is, the window that pops up is XP-styled!
Also, when you right-click on an image, it states MSN Messenger. I thought (more...)

Either update the dialog to Aero style or just dump this entire dialog altogether.

Please allow permanent direct URLs to files on SkyDrive

Submitted by Tim Acheson on November 2, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

At present the direct or download URL to a file on SkyDrive changes regularly. This is arguably a bug. It is widely considered best practice for any URL provided to the public to be maintained.

Apparently, SkyDrive is not meant to be used (more...)

Stop changing direct or download URLs to files on SkyDrive.
