Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner Setup is inconsistent with other dialogs

Submitted by nyp on March 17, 2009 to Aesthetics

Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner Setup (what a mouthful!) in Windows Live Messenger uses a horribly pixellated icon, some fake buttons and wrong colo(u)rs.

Make it consistent with all the other dialogs.
Or just demolish it, we have our own antivirus...

[Messenger] Antivirus (virus scanning) is required even for sending txt files

Submitted by litemininyuszika on March 16, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

In Messenger 8, users had the ability to send any files without virus scanning. Messenger 9 now even restrict sending txt files without virus scanning!!

In meantime, here's a step-by step tutorial how to skip virus scanning:

Notify users if they want to send files (but don't notify if it's just a txt file!!), provide a button (i.e. Continue) to continue with file transfer anyway, and add a 'Never show again' checkbox.

[Messenger] What ever happened to web-based IM?

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 10, 2009 to Usability

Wasn't this supposed to be rolled out with the "Hotmail update" in February? Yes, I know we have MSN Web Messenger, but I was looking forward to the integration of IM with wave 3 that was expected a while back. Any updates on the horizon?

Roll it out already!

Difficult to find email related to the one I'm reading right now

Windows Live Movie Maker can't split movie clips

Submitted by WindowsFan on March 8, 2009 to Usability

All you can do is "trim" the ends off of a clip, which is quite useless when you need to remove something from the middle of a clip.
It goes way beyond cutting out the middle of a clip, though. A "split" option can be used for (more...)

1. Replace the complicated trim option with a simple split button.
2. Allow us to at LEAST do all the stuff we could do with Windows Move Maker 6.

Remake the Windows Live Hotmail/People Sidebar

Submitted by hoopla_punta on March 8, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

The Sidebar has some difficulties in UX:

Normally-long usernames cannot be fully seen.
There should be a seperator to differentiate between generic folders and user-created folders.

"Manage folders" looks (more...)

Fix the above problems.
A good example can be seen in places like Photos or Skydrive of Windows Live.

Face recognition and fast People tagging in Windows Live Photo Gallery

Submitted by burnblue on March 7, 2009 to Usability

WLPG has People tags and face detection (that sometimes works), but these features do not currently do enough to be useful. Photo Gallery lacks face -recognition- and will not scan your library for you and offer to tag similar faces. This makes it very (more...)

Implement face recognition similar to what is done in Picasa Web albums ( http://www.macworld.com.au/data/e/2/2/135300-pi...ce-recognition-584.jpg (more...)

Submitted by .Chris on March 6, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Why the need for two toolbars from you guys?

http://toolbar.us.msn.com/

Merge both, ditch one (or both)

Note, I prefer the MSN design. I cant stand the ugly white and icon less crap your pulling. There is such thing as "too much clean"

Submitted by .Chris on March 6, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

My guess is this "extra window" is really the systray icon that was removed from the tray in windows 7.

I'm sure theres a way to work around this , you just need toi develop something
