Submitted by nyp on May 30, 2009 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

Seriously, how old is this icon and why this haven't spotted by Microsoft is beyond me.

Update it with the new Messenger icon with the info bar too.

Windows Live Writer should use the scenic ribbon

Submitted by Mephiles on September 12, 2009 to Aesthetics, Legacy, Usability

Windows Live Writer still uses the menu bar system that's over 20 years old.

Windows Live Writer is perfect for the scenic ribbon. Use it.

Windows Live Call uses older design.

Submitted by .Chris on April 15, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

Microsoft must think we are really stupid not to notice this. Windows live call uses a windows live messenger 8.0 style window. Keep in mind 8.0 launched about 2 years ago

Update the design to the new style. If messenger is gonna have a new look next time around, update the look of live call to that, don't just update it to 8.5 or 9.0. HAVE IT MATCH!!!!!

Remove the annoying Mesh Bar, integrate it into the toolbar.

Submitted by antiufo on April 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

Live Mesh displays an annoying bar on the right of every mesh folder. If you click this bar, it is expanded.

Integrate it into the toolbar, see the screenshot.

Time for the Live Messenger emoticons to be updated!

Submitted by alsiladka on March 18, 2009 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

I don't think i need to explain anything. The Live Messenger icons have been the same from god knows which version. I think v6.

But the real problem is that they don't look at home with the new messenger UI.

Update and bring them to match the Messenger UI.

Windows Live Mail .eml, vintage icon

Submitted by formula_86 on February 3, 2010 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

When you save an email message as an .eml draft file, the file type icon looks rather outdated.

Have it so that the icon used is exactly the same as Windows Vista's Windows Mail .eml file type icon.

Windows Live Movie Maker Ribbon is inconsistent

Submitted by nyp on June 2, 2009 to Aesthetics, Bug

1. Broken shadows
2. Save icon is in a different size
3. Menu button is brighter
4. Open icon looks crap
5. Incorrect Exit icon
6. No Undo/Redo (this is just unacceptable!)
7. Taller seperators
8. You can't (more...)

Just "steal" Paint's code and implement here. :p
The first image is the current one.
The second is how the correct version will look like.

Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner Setup is inconsistent with other dialogs

Submitted by nyp on March 17, 2009 to Aesthetics

Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner Setup (what a mouthful!) in Windows Live Messenger uses a horribly pixellated icon, some fake buttons and wrong colo(u)rs.

Make it consistent with all the other dialogs.
Or just demolish it, we have our own antivirus...

Remake the Windows Live Hotmail/People Sidebar

Submitted by hoopla_punta on March 8, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

The Sidebar has some difficulties in UX:

Normally-long usernames cannot be fully seen.
There should be a seperator to differentiate between generic folders and user-created folders.

"Manage folders" looks (more...)

Fix the above problems.
A good example can be seen in places like Photos or Skydrive of Windows Live.

[Messenger] Antivirus (virus scanning) is required even for sending txt files

Submitted by litemininyuszika on March 16, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

In Messenger 8, users had the ability to send any files without virus scanning. Messenger 9 now even restrict sending txt files without virus scanning!!

In meantime, here's a step-by step tutorial how to skip virus scanning:

Notify users if they want to send files (but don't notify if it's just a txt file!!), provide a button (i.e. Continue) to continue with file transfer anyway, and add a 'Never show again' checkbox.

Submitted by formula_86 on February 7, 2010 to Aesthetics

The Seoge UI font is used widely across the Windows Live products, so why can't this actual site use the Segoe UI font?

Update this site to use the Segoe UI font same as Windows 7 Taskforce does.
