How to import my mails?

Submitted by fmroska on April 6, 2010 to Usability

I have formatted my hard drive. Previously I have been storing all the mails in a folder in a different partition to recover if something like this happens.
I have gmail / yahoo / hotmail / accounts, and I made this just to not have to download (more...)

Screensaver won't start when Windows Live Messenger is running

Submitted by huntah302 on March 28, 2010 to Annoyance, Bug

I set the Bubbles screensaver to start after 1 minute, but when Windows Live Messenger is running, no matter how long I leave my computer inactive, the screensaver doesn't kick in, nor does any of the power saving settings for that matter!

Fix the problem.

WLM doesn't use the system color for menu bar

Submitted by Aethec on March 20, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

The menu bar in WLM's Contact lists, which appears if you press Alt, doesn't use the system color. But it uses the system color for the hover effect.
This looks ugly on non-default themes.

Use system color.

Controlling Folder Permissions in Subfolders

Submitted by joshwoods on March 17, 2010 to Usability

Now, you can only share a root folder with specific people or make it public. Going past the root folder and into subfolders doesn't allow the permissions to be changed.

Implement the ability to control the permissions of subfolders.

another way around emoticons

Submitted by bflatbush on March 11, 2010 to Annoyance

Cartoon emoticons replacing typed emoticons automatically on windows live mail.

I found putting an extra space in between the colon and parenthesis will not convert to the irritating emoticon on windows live mail. So instead of :) try : ). It still looks good! I'd still like Windows mail to give us the option of turning (more...)

When Flash is not installed, the Welcome to Messenger screen is somewhat broken

Submitted by nyp on February 28, 2010 to Bug

If you do not have Flash installed, the Welcome to Windows Live Messenger screen is broken and doesn't offer any additional content.

Don't display the message and offer some content for those who didn't installed Flash. While you're at there, switch to Silverlight? :P

Stationery setup wizard is wizard97 style

Submitted by formula_86 on February 12, 2010 to Aesthetics, Legacy

In Windows Live Mail, when I go and select stationery when composing a message, and select create new, the resulting wizard is wizard97 style rather than Aero wizard style.

(At least it uses the Segoe UI font! :) )

Come on Microsoft, its not 1997 any more; update the wizard to be Aero Wizard style.

Auto-save feature for Windows Live Movie Maker

Submitted by formula_86 on February 8, 2010 to Annoyance, Usability

Its annoying if you have been working on a large movie project in Windows Live Movie Maker, you have spent literally ages tweaking and customising the whole project to your liking, forgot to save your project, then it either randomly freezes up or displays (more...)

Add an auto-save feature like in the old Windows Movie Maker.

Smooth momentum scrolling in Live Mail's Calendar

Submitted by Chaztheman on February 8, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

When scrolling through the calendar with the mouse, it jumps to the day below which, and when it reaches the end of the screen it jumps and the screen shows the next month.

Scrolling should not scroll the selected day but instead scroll through all the days smoothly with momentum (like picasa, or iphone momentum scrolling) with no 'jumping' to the next page.

Make the next/previous month more obvious in Live Mail's Calendar

Submitted by Chaztheman on February 8, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

When viewing the calendar in month view, it is not clearly obvious where the month starts an finishes without reading the numbers. You should just be able to SEE all the days in the month.

Make the squares of each month alternating in shade (more subtle than my image!) Or outline the month.

[Website Suggestion] Make this site use the Segoe UI font same as Windows 7 Taskforce does

Submitted by formula_86 on February 7, 2010 to Aesthetics

The Seoge UI font is used widely across the Windows Live products, so why can't this actual site use the Segoe UI font?

Update this site to use the Segoe UI font same as Windows 7 Taskforce does.
