Folder-SubFolder-Windows Live Photo Gallery 2 SkyDrive

Submitted by AudioFiend on March 19, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Problem. I have a photo album stored on a whs. The files are all sorted into folders and subfolders i.e Birthdays(Folder) Child1(subFolder) Child2(subFolder) etc. When you click on and Birthdays Folder x items, x selected, the photos are hightlighted, (more...)

Moving the images in the skydrive is a real pain. Windows Live Photo Gallery should be seen as the master and all edits and folders should be duplicated in the SkyDrive

Pop up notifications for new mails for Live Mail when Messenger is not running

Submitted by alsiladka on March 18, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

Live Mail only displays new mail popup if Live Messenger is running and is active. But when Messenger is not running, there is only the sound and new mail icon notification for Live Mail.

Make Live Mail use the same Popup notifications when Messenger is not running.

[Spaces] Provide better control over comments

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 18, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

It's easier than before to manage blog comments and remove spam, but WL needs to increase the focus on keeping spam out of our comments in the first place.

Provide more control over who can post comments to our blogs, perferrably in the form of any or all of the following: CAPTCHA/reCAPTCHA, moderation (comments don't appear until you've OKed them), more granular permissions (e.g., only allow comments (more...)

Calendar and Contacts - separate Programs

Submitted by JJohnson on March 18, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

I have to open Windows Live Mail to access my Calendar and Contacts.

Separate the programs out as they were in Vista. I don't use Live Mail and don't want to open a mail program to see my contacts.

[Mail] Add a "To Do" Section in the Calendar Part of Windows Live Mail

Submitted by jeremysbost on March 17, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Currently the online Calendar service allows us to add "To Do" items, but WL Mail doesn't.

Add the "To Do" feature to WL Mail.

Have a darker theme set in wave 4, but keep the light set for those who love it

Submitted by .Chris on March 17, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

some of us like darker themes, but your forcing us to use the dumb bright, cartoon-ish themes

Create a set of dark themes for weave 4, but keep the light for those who want the light

Live Photo Gallery: Backup original photos to a sub folder in the original directory.

Submitted by mikefarinha on March 17, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

When making changes to a photo in Windows Live Photo Gallery the original photo gets backed up in the users profile automatically without asking to save. This is a good method if only one person accesses the photo store and backs up their whole computer. (more...)

Allowing users to at least have the option to change where the backup of the original photos are stored would solve this problem.

Google's Picasa does this in a much more elegant way. It saves the original photo in a sub folder called (more...)

Add Gravatar support for profile picture

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 17, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

Currently I have to choose a WL Profile/Messenger picture, even though I have a Gravatar account associated with my WL email address.

Add support for using Gravatar images if the user has an account with the service. It's convenient to have a single, global point to manage avatars across the board. At a minimum, how about caching previously used avatars to make them easier to reselect?

[Messenger] Antivirus (virus scanning) is required even for sending txt files

Submitted by litemininyuszika on March 16, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

In Messenger 8, users had the ability to send any files without virus scanning. Messenger 9 now even restrict sending txt files without virus scanning!!

In meantime, here's a step-by step tutorial how to skip virus scanning:

Notify users if they want to send files (but don't notify if it's just a txt file!!), provide a button (i.e. Continue) to continue with file transfer anyway, and add a 'Never show again' checkbox.

[Messenger] Provide "Send file again" button

Submitted by Ensign Joe on March 15, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

If an contact declines a transfer request or the file transfer fails there is no easy way to re-send the file. The only way is to again drag'n'drop the file into the messenger window or dig through the open file dialog again.

Provide a "Send file again" button on failed file transfers.
It's about time!!!

[Groups] [Profile] Provide a view of all discussions/replies by user

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 15, 2009 to Usability

If I'm looking for discussions/replies by a specific user in a group, then I currently have to sift through each discussion manually.

Provide a view of discussions/replies by a given user, possibly via the user tile or a link on the group's page. If the What's New feed would advertise discussion replies, then I suppose you could just refer to the user's Profile page (although (more...)

[Windows Live Mail] Keep "Not Junk" emails marked as unread

Submitted by pmbAustin on March 15, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Currnetly, if Windows Live Mail puts legitimate emails into the "Junk" folder, and you click the "not junk" button, it correctly moves the email back to the inbox... but even though it has not been read, it's marked as read. (more...)

When marking an email in the Junk Folder, ensure it's marked as "Unread" when moved into the inbox.

[Suggestion] Windows Live Center Jumplist (Vista/7 only)

Submitted by hoopla_punta on March 14, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

Vista somewhat has some "Jumplists" and 7 can easily support them already. I would really like someplace where I can see everything about my Windows Live account, right from my desktop, and I don't really want another application on my (more...)

[skydrive/photos] Multiple File Selection uploader or Silverlight/Flash/Java uploader

Submitted by hoopla_punta on March 14, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

It is really a big problem when you want to upload numerous stuff from a non-IE browser to skydrive, as it only allows one file selection at a time, and up to 5 files can be uploaded at a time only.

Use a multiple file selection uploader, or use a flash/silverlight/java uploader...
