WLM doesn't use the system color for menu bar

Submitted by Aethec on March 20, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

The menu bar in WLM's Contact lists, which appears if you press Alt, doesn't use the system color. But it uses the system color for the hover effect.
This looks ugly on non-default themes.

Use system color.

Stationery setup wizard is wizard97 style

Submitted by formula_86 on February 12, 2010 to Aesthetics, Legacy

In Windows Live Mail, when I go and select stationery when composing a message, and select create new, the resulting wizard is wizard97 style rather than Aero wizard style.

(At least it uses the Segoe UI font! :) )

Come on Microsoft, its not 1997 any more; update the wizard to be Aero Wizard style.

Smooth momentum scrolling in Live Mail's Calendar

Submitted by Chaztheman on February 8, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

When scrolling through the calendar with the mouse, it jumps to the day below which, and when it reaches the end of the screen it jumps and the screen shows the next month.

Scrolling should not scroll the selected day but instead scroll through all the days smoothly with momentum (like picasa, or iphone momentum scrolling) with no 'jumping' to the next page.

Make the next/previous month more obvious in Live Mail's Calendar

Submitted by Chaztheman on February 8, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

When viewing the calendar in month view, it is not clearly obvious where the month starts an finishes without reading the numbers. You should just be able to SEE all the days in the month.

Make the squares of each month alternating in shade (more subtle than my image!) Or outline the month.

[Website Suggestion] Make this site use the Segoe UI font same as Windows 7 Taskforce does

Submitted by formula_86 on February 7, 2010 to Aesthetics

The Seoge UI font is used widely across the Windows Live products, so why can't this actual site use the Segoe UI font?

Update this site to use the Segoe UI font same as Windows 7 Taskforce does.

Windows Live Mail .eml, vintage icon

Submitted by formula_86 on February 3, 2010 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

When you save an email message as an .eml draft file, the file type icon looks rather outdated.

Have it so that the icon used is exactly the same as Windows Vista's Windows Mail .eml file type icon.

Downloading IMAP Folders animation has an old animation

Submitted by nyp on December 10, 2009 to Aesthetics, Legacy

When Mail downloads the folders in IMAP, it decided to remind you how much they have come from those 256-color bitmaps to 256x256 icons in full color and transparency glory.
The dialog itself is also old.

Replace it.

Move Live Mesh Bar

Submitted by wadeal on December 4, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

Where the bar is impedes closing a windows, previously I just pointed the mounse upto the top right of a maximized window and clicked, knowing it would hit the x, now I have to pay attention everytime. Theres heaps of room to on the Explorer bar if your (more...)

Allow choice to move the bar, to close it completely, add a menu to the explorer bar or the buttons to the explorer bar. Where it is now is too impractical.

Allow more functionality of Games for Windows LIVE out of game

Submitted by Zedo Mann on November 25, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

If you are not in a game with Games for Windows LIVE, the only things you can do with Games for Windows LIVE are look at the marketplace and look at your downloads.

Allow more functionality, such as Profile editing, friend adding/chatting, etc. out of game.

Wonder if this will be fixed with the ability to buy full games from Games for Windows LIVE?

Windows Live mail should use the scenic ribbon

Submitted by .Chris on November 16, 2009 to Aesthetics, Icons, Usability

Windows Live Mail should ditch the use of the old menu system and adapt the use of the ribbon. Alow color options, as not everyone wants the blue, and live mail would be a strip down version of outlook, and aimed at the general consumer.

Wave 4: Windows Live font to match bing and the *NEW* MSN

Submitted by .Chris on November 4, 2009 to Aesthetics

Given the bing font and the new msn font look alike , why not make the live font
match? Sure it should look like windows, but why not make it look more web 2.0 and be more in line with all the internet services?
