Remake the Windows Live Hotmail/People Sidebar

Problem: The Sidebar has some difficulties in UX:

Normally-long usernames cannot be fully seen.
There should be a seperator to differentiate between generic folders and user-created folders.

Solution: Fix the above problems.
A good example can be seen in places like Photos or Skydrive of Windows Live.

[Windows Live Mail] Let users turn off emoticon substitution!

Problem: Currently, when typing in the body of an email, if you type ":-)", it's instantly converted into a graphic smilie face. There is no way to turn this off.

Solution: 1) Provide a configuration option to enable/disable the auto-substitution of graphic emoticons for text ones

2) Allow such auto-substitutions to be 'undone' with backspace, as well as Ctrl-Z, just like Outlook and Word.

Add a contact slider to messenger to resize our contacts on the fly

Problem: Why must we use a ugly old dialog box thats really dated just to resize the contacts? Let alone the old fashond way, of clicking radio buttons, clicking apply and clicking ok, just to see changes? Introduce a slider, much like the ones found in the vista/7 (more...)

ask user if they would like to join a group. Don't automatically add users to a group without their consent

Problem: If you've used the groups feature on messenger, you'll know what I'm talking about. You always get added to a group, even if you dont want to be in it at the moment!.

Solution: Do not have the user automatically be added to a group without their consent . Just because they are a member there, doesn't mean they want to be in the group every time they are logged in to messenger.

Diferent Windows Live navigation bars. Needs fixing

Problem: Bellow is an image of the 4 Windows Live desktop application's navigation bars. All have a different look and fell.

Windows Live Toolbar adds unnecessary search bar by default, no option to remove it.

Problem: I have no grudges against this, I think there are some people that like two search bars, but this takes up a lot of space and looks real cluttered. It could be replaced by some other functionality, like a scrolling "what's new" etc.

Solution: Give an option to remove the search bar and disable by default.

Customize toolbar for Windows Live Mail drawing bug

Problem: The "Available Buttons" listbox on the left has a drawing bug in the border of the right hand corner of the selected item rectangle.

[Messenger] Remove unused Email icon
