[Groups] Let me subscribe to a group discussion thread

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Currently the only way to know if someone has replied to a Group discussoin thread that I have previously left a message on is to visit the group at http://groups.live.com

Let me subscribe to a thread (perhaps via alerts.live.com) so that i can choose how and where to be notified about an update to the thread.

[Groups] [Mail] Live Mail to be offline reader for group discussions

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Usability

There is no offline reader for Group discussions.

Live Mail is already a very good NNTP client. I'd like to see that extended to be a client for Live Groups discussion boards as well.

I don't give a monkey's if the underlying transport is NNTP/Mesh or whatever - I just want (more...)

[Groups] Group discussion threads need to be threaded

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Usability

Messeges in a discussion thread appear in time order which means you can't see whom has replied to whom

There are a multitude of possible improvements for Groups following the recent v1 release though probably the most obvious is to make the discussion forums threaded (a la an NNTP client).

"Suggest a Friend" is quite bad!

Submitted by Alimaggs on March 5, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

I'm not sure if it's because the system only looks at who is attached to your friends' profiles (rather than their messenger contacts, which might be so much more useful) but I've yet to find anybody I know in real life through this (more...)

Why not look at your contact's messenger lists too, or perhaps go the way of Facebook and allow you to suggest contacts and people to your friends. For example, if I add "Andy" to my profile, perhaps give me the option, at that point, (more...)

Please allow permanent direct URLs to files on SkyDrive

Submitted by Tim Acheson on November 2, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

At present the direct or download URL to a file on SkyDrive changes regularly. This is arguably a bug. It is widely considered best practice for any URL provided to the public to be maintained.

Apparently, SkyDrive is not meant to be used (more...)

Stop changing direct or download URLs to files on SkyDrive.

[Profile] Up and down arrows to reorder favorites

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Usability

Changing numbers to reorder our Favorites list is a bit simplistic.

Can you give us up and down arrows (or even drag and drop) in order to change the order of things in our favourite lists?

Please add the ability to move and copy whole folders

Submitted by Tim Acheson on November 2, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Moving or copying every individual file within a folder is very inconvenient. With larger numbers of files, the time needed to do this manually is prohibitive. Yet at present this is the only way to move or copy a whole folder.

Add "move" and "copy" to the options for managing a folder. These options already exist for individual files.

Windows Live Contacts - link family profiles with each other

Submitted by JJohnson on July 18, 2009 to Usability

If I add a spouse or children, it's relatively meaningless in my live contacts, as there's no linkage between contact profiles.

Have Spouse/Children profiles link together so that if I edit my friend Matt's profile to show his wife Melody, on the bottom of his profile is Melody's picture in a 100x100 icon with her name next to or underneath. I click on her and am taken (more...)

Import of contacts in CSV format is WAY too slow

Submitted by pmbAustin on May 6, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

I bought a new laptop, so I wanted to copy over my Contacts. I exported them to CSV format on my old laptop, copied the file over, and impoted them on my new laptop. The UI is fairly straight-forward here.

However, I have over 1000 contacts. (more...)

Windows Live Gallery
