[Messenger] Windows Live Messenger needs a Send button.

Submitted by xombie on March 5, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Sometimes, you just copy paste stuff with the mouse, but to send it you need to use the keyboard...really, really annoying. Especially when you're just sitting back and reading stuff.

Bring back the send button. Please. At least as an option.

It would be a much more useful option than some of the options that have been added to Messenger over the years.

Windows Live Toolbar adds unnecessary search bar by default, no option to remove it.

Submitted by hoopla_punta on March 5, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

I have no grudges against this, I think there are some people that like two search bars, but this takes up a lot of space and looks real cluttered. It could be replaced by some other functionality, like a scrolling "what's new" etc.

Give an option to remove the search bar and disable by default.

Windows Live Hotmail still not stable yet.

Submitted by hoopla_punta on March 5, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

I've been stuck trying to access my Hotmail account for ages using Safari on my Mac, and it has been so for ages.
I get stuck once accessing a folder, and I can't access any messages at all.

Supposedly it should work on (more...)

[Messenger] Clicking hyperlinks in conversations doesn't work half the time.

Submitted by Bas on March 5, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

When a Messenger contact sends you a URL, clicking it in the conversation window often doesn't open the webpage, but just sets the text cursor where you clicked it. Repeated clicking does not help, you need to alt+tab to another window and alt+tab (more...)

Fix the conversation window so that hyperlinks are recognized as such.

"Suggest a Friend" is quite bad!

Submitted by Alimaggs on March 5, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

I'm not sure if it's because the system only looks at who is attached to your friends' profiles (rather than their messenger contacts, which might be so much more useful) but I've yet to find anybody I know in real life through this (more...)

Why not look at your contact's messenger lists too, or perhaps go the way of Facebook and allow you to suggest contacts and people to your friends. For example, if I add "Andy" to my profile, perhaps give me the option, at that point, (more...)

Opera Mobile version of mobile.live.com doesn't work

Submitted by Alimaggs on March 5, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

The mobile version of mobile.live.com does not work *at all* with Opera for Windows Mobile (which is installed on all new HTC devices - including HD, Diamond, Touch Pro, Sony Xperia and Samsung Omnia). Instead you see the desktop version of mobile.live.com.

Should just be a matter of tweaking the browser definitions.

SkyDrive folders should have Web Slices

Submitted by brian.shapiro on March 5, 2009 to Usability

There are limited applications of Web Slices and a very appealing one may be using them to show folders on SkyDrive. This would allow, for instance, a SkyDrive Favorites folder to be on the Favorites bar with a list of the links you've stored online.

Allow any SkyDrive folder to be turned into a Web Slice, including the root folder. Allow dragging of links or files to the Web Slice.

All types of searches should have both infinite scroll and navigable page numbers

Submitted by brian.shapiro on March 5, 2009 to Usability

Because of indecision of which way of displaying search results is better, the Live team has split the difference, and made the web search navigable by page numbers and the image search navigable by an infinite scroll. This takes the advantages of infinite (more...)

Have search results for both web queries and image queries show in an infinite scroll, but have different positions within the scroll be navigable by page number. (like pages in Microsoft Word)
