Error icons in the sign in screen are XP-era

Problem: If you made a mistake in the sign in screen, the error icons that appear are XP-era.

Solution: Update those icons.

Windows Live Mail .eml, vintage icon

Problem: When you save an email message as an .eml draft file, the file type icon looks rather outdated.

Solution: Have it so that the icon used is exactly the same as Windows Vista's Windows Mail .eml file type icon.

Severity: Medium

Impact: High

Status: Fixed

Fixed in Windows Live Essentials 2011 suite.

New Icons and Images

Problem: Go to
Control Panel > Programs and Features
and set your view to "Extra Large Icons"

Solution: Icons and images schould be updated.

Windows Live mail should use the scenic ribbon

Problem: Windows Live Mail should ditch the use of the old menu system and adapt the use of the ribbon. Alow color options, as not everyone wants the blue, and live mail would be a strip down version of outlook, and aimed at the general consumer.

"Download more pictures" dialog in Messenger is visually outdated

Problem: On the dialog where you select a display picture, there is a small link to "Download more pictures..."
Problem is, the window that pops up is XP-styled!
Also, when you right-click on an image, it states MSN Messenger. I thought (more...)

Solution: Either update the dialog to Aero style or just dump this entire dialog altogether.

Web based mail: If your going to have text labels, then have text labels

Problem: In hotmail, on the web based version, you have text labels up top, but a icon for "print". If your going to use all text, then have the print icon as a text label "print".

Return icons and color to the UI (especially Windows Live Mail

Problem: In Wave 2, each button along the top tool bar had an associated icon, and folders along the left in the different accounts had different icons, and different accounts were in different color sets.

Solution: Bring back the icons in the toolbar buttons and in the folder/account pane on the left!

WL Movie Maker's progress window has wrong icon, doesn't show progress in taskbar.

Although these "problems" are small compared to the general un-usability of the program. Even my Sony Ericsson phone has better basic video editing options :p

Little Messenger reminder guy is from long time ago...

Problem: Seriously, how old is this icon and why this haven't spotted by Microsoft is beyond me.

Solution: Update it with the new Messenger icon with the info bar too.

Windows Live Mail did not shut down correctly is old and outdated

Problem: Take a look at my screenshot. The top half is what is there now. The bottoum is what SHOULD be there.

You get this message if windows live mail crashed or was shut down incorrectly.

Solution: Update to the image on the bottoum.

Windows Live Connection Troubleshooter is old and outdated.

Problem: The only mordern thing here are the buttons and the "i" icon. Everything else is out dated

Solution: Update the dialog or better yet for windows 7 users, use the internet connection wizzard
