[Profile] if a person doesn't have any photos, don't show me a link to their photos

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Every person’s profile has a link to their photo albums, even if they don’t have any photos. What’s the point in that?

If they don’t have any photos don’t show me the link!!!

[Spaces] get rid of exclamation marks from Spaces URLs

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Annoyance

Some engines interpret an exclamation mark as a delimiter hence URLs containing them (i.e. Spaces URLs e.g. http://jamiethomson.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!550F681DAD532637!8892.entry) (more...)

[Spaces] URLs should be human-readable

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

Our blog entry URLs need to be human readable rather than some nonsensical code (e.g. http://jamiethomson.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!550F681DAD532637!8892.entry)

Put words into the URLs rather than nonsensical code (e.g. http://jamiethomson.spaces.live.com/blog/Laundry_list_of_wants_for_Windows (more...)

[Groups] Tell me who wrote the most recent reply to a Live Group discussion thread

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

We are told when the last reply to a discussion thread occurs but we’re not told who it was written by. Seems like a glaring omission to me. If I know that I wrote an entry on a thread fairly recently there’s no way of knowing who has since replied (more...)

Tell us who wrote the most recent reply (and perhaps even give us a preview of it)

[Groups] Takes too long to get to a group

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

It takes 3 clicks to get to one of my groups; once on "More" in WL Header, once on "Groups" then once more on the name of the group at groups.live.com.

How about have a submenu under More-->Groups that lists all the groups I am a member of that I can browse by hovering over.

[Groups] Let me subscribe to a group discussion thread

Submitted by jamiet on March 8, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Currently the only way to know if someone has replied to a Group discussoin thread that I have previously left a message on is to visit the group at http://groups.live.com

Let me subscribe to a thread (perhaps via alerts.live.com) so that i can choose how and where to be notified about an update to the thread.

Launch applications in Windows Live Mail separately

Submitted by burnblue on March 7, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

In the Essentials suite, Mail, Calendar Contacts, Newsgroups and RSS are all combined into one app, Windows Live Mail. This means that if I want to look someone up in my Contacts list, or just check out my Calendar, when I launch the program WLM pauses (more...)

1) Offer Mail, Calendar Contacts, Newsgroups and RSS as five separate and individual installable applications, or

2) give us a choice to launch each with independent shortcuts: for example, I type Calendar into the Start Menu, click "Windows (more...)

[Windows Live Mail] Let users manage images images!

Submitted by pmbAustin on March 7, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

I absolutely hate the "Photo Email" feature. It robs me of any and all control, and never does what I want. The closest I can come to doing what I want is to save the image to disk (I can't just paste it in), and then select "Insert (more...)

1) Provide an option to "turn off" the "picture email" feature, so that all photos are inline at full size by default

2) Let it be an OPTION to enable users to format the picture in different ways (resize it, add captions, (more...)

[Windows Live Mail] Let users turn off emoticon substitution!

Submitted by pmbAustin on March 7, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

Currently, when typing in the body of an email, if you type ":-)", it's instantly converted into a graphic smilie face. There is no way to turn this off.

This is very annoying. I hate peppering my email text with distracting (more...)

1) Provide a configuration option to enable/disable the auto-substitution of graphic emoticons for text ones

2) Allow such auto-substitutions to be 'undone' with backspace, as well as Ctrl-Z, just like Outlook and Word.
