WLM doesn't use the system color for menu bar

Submitted by Aethec on March 20, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

The menu bar in WLM's Contact lists, which appears if you press Alt, doesn't use the system color. But it uses the system color for the hover effect.
This looks ugly on non-default themes.

Use system color.

Improve Share on the Live Toolbar

Submitted by mjflynt on July 31, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

The Share button on the Live Toolbar allows the user to share a webpage with the entire public. It posts updates to every contact in the persons network. Sometimes a shared page is only pertinent to a small set of contacts. For example, a technical article (more...)

Add one more field to the form that displays when you click the Share button. This field will default to everyone or public or just "Shared Favorites", but it will be a dropdown menu that also lists each of the other user defined Shared Favorite (more...)

[Groups] TMI on WL Groups' What’s New list.

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

If a group member start’s a new discussion, the What’s New list includes the name of the user, name of the discussion, and the name of the group (e.g., Greg posted Stuff on Group). Outside the group that makes sense, but inside the group, the group (more...)

Inside the context of the group, the update needs to be amended to only include the name of the user and discussion (e.g., Greg posted Stuff). The group name is not necessary inside the group pages.

Bring back Shared Folders

Submitted by mjflynt on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

I know you took them out for a reason or whatever. And I know that there is Live Sync. But it took me forever to get my dad to use Shared Folders, and I don't look forward to teaching him something new.

Please integrate Live Sync with Messenger in a way that is similar to how Shared Folders used to work. I believe this has been done with WLPG to sync photos?? I know that we are limited to 20 Synced Folders which won't be enough for most people's (more...)

[People] Allow me to override WL People display pictures

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 9, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

Currently if someone has a Messenger account, then it's picture trumps everything else in my WL People list.

Allow me to upload my own images for my WL People contacts. I want to use WL People as my universal address book.

[Groups] Add Groups > to start of drill-down path in WL Groups

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 9, 2009 to Aesthetics

The Groups > link should return me to the summary of my groups (http://groups.live.com). It would save me a click when I want to jump to a different group (currently, (more...)

Allow custom order of banner links

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 9, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

The Home Profile People Mail Photos More MSN links cannot be customized by the user.

Because different WL audiences have different agendas, you're never going to satisfy everyone with a single standard. Allow each user to define what appears on the "top 5" of their own WL banner. Anything else drops into the More category (more...)

[Messenger] Change 'Appear offline' to 'Appear unavailable'

Submitted by JTaylor69 on September 19, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

At the moment the statuses are:

- Available
- Busy
- Away
- Appear Offline

The appear offline doesn't match in my opinion.

Change it to:

- Available
- Busy
- Away
- Appear unavailable

to match the 'Available' status.

I know it's not a huge issue, but it would only be a simple change.

[Mail] Drop the "Hot" in Hotmail

Submitted by gregsedwards on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

It just makes the brand too confusing.

Windows Live Mail is sufficient.

Show only the first 20 people online in a group in Messenger - not the entire membership.

Submitted by mjflynt on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

Instead of listing every member of a group and limiting the group size to 20 or less to allow group chat why not list only those actually online and not limit the overall group size.

List only the first 20 members of a group that are actually online, and allow them to group chat. Do not show the 21st and later online person or show them with a special icon indicating they are not available, and do not let them in the chat. Show them (more...)

[Messenger] Change my name window

Submitted by JTaylor69 on March 22, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

There should be a much longer field to input names especially if people like to go for long names (nearly everyone I know does)

Create a seperate window that can be opened when either of the following steps are taken:

Solution 1:
1. Click Name in Contact List Window
2. Click Change My Name...
3. Window Appears

Solution 2:
1. (more...)
